The Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado (Federation) is the central umbrella fundraising and community convening organization for the local Jewish community. Our mission is to build and sustain Jewish life in Colorado, in Israel, and around the world.  We fulfill this mission by providing important programs on behalf of the community, such as the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), the Young Adult Department (YAD), and jewishcolorado.org.  Federation supports local Jewish communal organizations through an annual planning and allocations process that is based on the needs and priorities of the community. Federation also supports Jewish needs nationally and internationally through partnerships with Israel, Jewish Federations of North America, the Jewish Agency for Israel, and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. Federation convenes the community in times of joy and crisis, helps fund Jewish rescue and resettlement programs all over the globe as well as programs in health and human services, Jewish education, cultural continuity and leadership development.

Retreats

Use a 50% discount on a family retreat or family mission to Israel, up to $400. Restricted to families who have never participated in that retreat or trip before.

There’s no better way to experience the People and the State of Israel for the first time than on an Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado Summer Family Mission to Israel. Geared toward families with pre-Bar/Bat Mitzvah–age children, our missions are one of a kind.  Federation staff work directly with our partners in Israel to create an itinerary that caters to young children, but that also appeals to their parents and even their grandparents. Led by the most experienced guides, participants enjoy a family-friendly adventure that takes them from the top of the Golan Heights to the depths of the Dead Sea, from the sandy beaches along the Mediterranean to the majestic canyons of the Negev, and from the sights and sounds of modern-day Tel Aviv to the beauty and history of ancient Jerusalem. This amazing journey offers you the perfect way to not only connect with your immediate family, but also with your extended Jewish family, all of whom are waiting to welcome you with open arms and give you a tour of your Homeland. More than a family vacation, a Summer Family Mission to Israel is truly the trip of a lifetime.  Family Missions are open to families with pre-Bar/Bat Mitzvah–age children, but MazelTot discounts only apply to families with children under the age of 5 who have not participated in an Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado mission before.

Family missions typically occur in the late June/early July summer months.  The average cost of a four person family is $10,000, or approximately $2,500 for each participant.  If you are interested, please contact Connie Egland at cegland@ajfcolorado.org or (303) 316-6499 for more information.

*Based on limited interest, Federation is no longer planning a Family Mission for the summer of 2010.  If you are interested in participating on a Family Mission for the summer of 2011, please contact Connie Egland at the number referenced above.  All Family Missions are contingent upon Federation's ability to recruit a minimum number of families.
