Boulder Jewish Day School is an independent community day school. As a community day school, we welcome families from across the spectrum of Jewish life, from interfaith families to Orthodox families. We are a diverse school. Everybody has a place at the Boulder Jewish Day School!  We invite you to contact us at bjds@qwestoffice.net to schedule a tour of our school.

Founded in 1994, the Boulder Jewish Day School (BJDS) is open to children from preschool through the fifth grade. We are committed to academic excellence with Jewish values through our integrated curriculum. We nurture the spiritual as well as the academic side of our students. We are dedicated to providing a warm, safe “home away from home” for our children. Our low student-to-teacher ratio allows students to work one on one with teachers, in small groups, and as a class reinforce, build and stretch their own abilities.

The BJDS Early Childhood program is based upon the goals of the NAEYC Developmentally Appropriate Practices in Early Childhood, the a constructivist view of play based on the work of Vygotsky, and the Reggio Emilia Approach. We believe that children learn and develop as they engage in meaningful experiences in routines, play, and relationships. The role of the teacher is to support children as they revisit skills and knowledge they have mastered as well as scaffold children as they reach towards higher levels of knowledge, understanding, and independence in their play, relationships, and exploration.  We are guided by a thematic curriculum that centers on the seasons, Jewish holidays, and an emergent curriculum which is based on children and teachers’ daily lives, interests and questions.  Our planning takes into account the social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs of young children. Our staff has been trained to observe and record children’s skills and behaviors so that we can help each child maximize their potential and be sensitive to individual needs.  Our rich Jewish heritage, traditions, and values are reflected in our classroom dynamics, activities, rituals, T’fillah, Hebrew and interactions which cultivate the students’ strong sense of Jewish identity.

All BJDS students embark on a journey of self-development and self-discovery the moment they enter our school. With the tools and motivation provided by their BJDS experience, our students depart with the ability to create meaningful lives for themselves and to shape and transform the world in which they live.
