Swim Safe Academy at the JCC
Parents must teach their children how to swim for their survival - Talmud Kiddushin 29B
Swim Safe Academy is our small group swim lesson program. Children begin to enjoy the water while steadily progressing in stroke technique development. Students are grouped according to age and ability and progress through the program as they complete each skill set. Choose a lesson schedule that works into your busy schedule.
Infant/Toddler Aquatics (6 months—3 years)
Shrimps (6 months—3 years)
This class is for young children and their parents. The class is designed to teach parents how to have fun with their baby in the water while also introducing important swim skills. Swimmers will work on comfort in the water, floating and gliding with eyes in the water for a short distance.

Lobsters (24—36 months)
This level is for swimmers who have graduated the Shrimps level. In this class children swim without their parents in the water and work on unassisted floating, scooping arms and flutter kicks.

3—5 Year Old Program
LEVEL 1: Jellyfish
This level is for the beginning swimmer. Students will learn to float on their front and back as well as how to comfortably go underwater. We emphasize safety and confidence while setting the foundation for more advanced skills.

LEVEL 2: Squids
This level is for the swimmer who is comfortable in the water and can float independently. In this class, students will begin to learn streamlining, freestyle and the foundations of backstroke.

LEVEL 3: Octopus
This level is for children who can consistently swim freestyle and are ready to start learning side breathing. Students will also work on backstroke progression and be introduced to breaststroke and butterfly kick.

All classes are 30 minutes unless otherwise noted.
Sessions are five weeks unless otherwise noted.
Class size is limited and students are enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must be registered prior to class, on-line at www.jccdenver.org or by filling out a registration form and turning it in, with payment. No phone registrations. Last day for registration is five days prior to session start date. Program enrollment does not entitle JCC Annual members or non-members to use the pools or S&F Center before or after swim lessons. All classes are 30 minutes. Sessions are 5 weeks and are only pro-rated to accommodate Sports & Fitness/Pool closures.
